♪ FESTIVALS! Whoa, Nellie! There are TWO exceptionally "fine-fun" / "fun/fine" ones this weekend in the L.A. area, and tons ‘n tons o’ concerts n’ MORE. And that’s what this is all about, don’cha know.

A separate NEWS EDITION is under construction. THIS edition is all the events.

Herein is ’purt near the Friday n' Festival whole shebang: the listening and participatory music-making scenes, the best arts events, and that nebulous and necessary word, “more.” Herein is the “now” of Friday, with some of Saturday and Sunday (MORE coming), and the best of things farther ahead in the Guide’s big ol’ TICKET ALERTS section.

For many of us, Thanksgiving arrived early this year. Firefighters saved over a thousand homes (many built where they should never have been). And for at least one grateful editor, dedicated surgeons saved an eye that otherwise would have been lost.

This edition extensively covers the third week of September, including the Event-of-the-Month pick and summer’s last hurrah, the September 18-20 MILLPOND MUSIC FESTIVAL in Bishop.
